Hole in ONE | 1st Birthday Party
I cannot believe this huge milestone is finally here! My first baby is officially ONE! People are not lying when they say how quickly it goes by. I can honestly say this last year has been the most challenging, yet most rewarding year of my life! Being a mom is truly the biggest blessing & I will never take it for granted. Crew has developed such a personality and is becoming more and more like a toddler every day. I cannot wait to see what year 2 brings us! Now - let’s celebrate!
The theme we decided on for Crew’s first birthday, to know ones’ surprise, was Hole in ONE! His nursery is golf-themed, so we decided to keep the trend going. This mama could have gone ALL-out on the decor, but I showed some restraint and tried to keep it pretty simple!
The main focal piece was this backdrop set-up I created for my son to eat his cake in front of. Not to toot my own horn, but I think it turned out so cute! I used a balloon kit I purchased from Amazon to create a garland in varying shades of greens & blues to match the theme and hung it along this gold ring. I was pretty impressed with how simple it was to assemble. I had the gold ring on hand from my baby shower & we will be able to use it for all of birthday parties to come - definitely worth the buy! The star of the show was this adorable, 3ft marquee light-up number 1! It is battery-operated and comes in several different sizes. Finally, I tied blue ribbons to this highchair banner from Amazon.
I printed out several photos of Crew at different stages and put them in a few gold frames we already had. So easy and inexpensive, but gave the party an even more personalized touch. How cute did his one year photos turn out?!
My mom baked Crew’s smash cake for the party, as well as these delicious cupcakes! She topped the cupcakes with white chocolate golf balls made from silicone molds and added these red flags to complete the golf theme! We had these display tiers from our wedding, but they are also an Amazon find.
Finally, the outfits - my favorite part! I found the cutest gray, gingham jon Jon with a golf design on it for Crew to wear! After eating (or should I say wearing) his cake, an outfit change was necessary for little man. Thankfully we already had this adorable green & white golf polo set that went with his theme. My sweater is from Confetti Closet and when I saw this online, I had to have it! It is covered in golf-themed patches & says “Par-Tee Time” on the back - is that not perfect?! I paired it with a black golf skirt and sandals. My husband wore a golf polo and shorts. He didn’t have to stray much from his typical attire.
Overall it was a great day surrounded by our families celebrating our little guy! The weather was perfect for an outdoor cook-out and Crew was spoiled. The sugar crash hit later, but it was well worth it!
XO, Shelby
